Workshops

Filipino Youth Coalition's workshops and activities are intended to engage youth in developing a sense of belonging and unity with their peers from all different areas of the South Bay, which creates a valuable network of life-long relationships. Youth will have access to free services at these programs, such as 1:1 mentoring to address any issues that the individual might be having.

Below are a couple of the educational services that we offer.

Tuesday Night Activities

Frequency: Weekly throughout the calendar year

Tuesday Night Activities is a free of cost afterschool program in which all youth are welcomed to come and engage in different workshops on topics such as Filipino American history, Filipino arts, and college and professional readiness. Along with these workshops and discussions, youth will be able to network with other youth from different schools and/or different areas. We ask that all attendees help us keep these gatherings a safe space by practicing respect, courtesy, and mindfulness.

Summer Program

Frequency: 6 weeks during the summer

After the regular school year ends, all youth are welcomed to participate in FYC's 6 week Summer Program. During Summer Program, youth will participate in various workshops, activities, and field trips that revolve around different themes which are usually culturally centralized (culture identity, family, community involvement, etc).

At the end of summer program, student participants are invited to a camping retreat called Rites of Passage (ROP), chaperoned by FYC staff. This retreat is open to only those who have gone through our 6 week summer program. At the retreat, youth will participate in activities that encourage them to focus on who they are as individuals and promote learning to become more open with their peers.
